Q & A with Summer Festival Speaker Matt Coyle and San Diego Writers Festival

SDWF: Tell us about latest novel you are writing in the Rick Cahill Series.

MC: Lost Tomorrows is the latest Rick Cahill book. In it, Rick finally learns the truth about his wife’s murder and is forced to confront the darkness within himself as he seeks revenge.

SDWF: What writing resources (in San Diego, if appropriate) have been most helpful to you?

MC: UCSD Extension novel writing classes, writers group led by Carolyn Wheat

SDWF: What was the first piece of writing you shared with someone else?

MC: I think it was an 8th grade English class. I was a bit of a smartass, and we’d been assigned to write a few poems. I wrote something tender, and my teacher accused me of having someone else write the poem.

SDWF: Is there a line from one of your books you’d be willing to share? (opening sentence(s) or something that gives the flavor of the piece?)

MC: Her voice, a low purr ripe with memories of long-ago crushes, vibrated along the night’s spine.

SDWF: Where can we find your blog/website or any other online links (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram)?

MC: https://mattcoylebooks.com/ , https://www.facebook.com/matt.coyle.77 , https://www.instagram.com/mcoyle044/

SDWF: Thanks, Matt!
